Regrazing experiment successfully started at the Brunnenkopfalm (~1600 m) in the Ammergau Alps

By the end of May 2018, the first cattle (Murnau-Werdenfelser and Tiroler Grauvieh) were brought to the Brunnenkopfalm. It  allowed the regrazing experiment to start after long preparatory works. Before, the grazing areas had been prepared, fences were set up and an initial sampling of the vegetation and soil was carried out. In addition to the SUSALPS consortium, farmers, representatives of forestry and agricultural authorities, nature conservation and research are involved in this experiment.
The Brunnenkopfalm in the Ammergau Alps was abandoned in the 1950s. In the regrazing experiment, the effects of grazing on flora, fauna and soil are now investigated.
