On 1st October 2015, the kick-off meeting of the BonaRes funding programme will take place at the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
The morning session will cover the strategic and policy context of BonaRes and the general scientific and societal challenges. The event will start with speeches by Ms Brumme-Bothe, Section Head “Life Sciences” in the BMBF, and Minister of Science, Research and Culture of the Federal State of Brandenburg Prof. Dr. Dr. Kunst.
The project “BodenGarten” will give an input on soils in education and Dr. Luca Montanarella, head of the European Commission Joint Research Centre’s action “Soil Data and Information Systems” will give a key lecture on soils and soil research. Of course, also the BonaRes Centre will be introduced. Prof. Dr. Hans-Jörg Vogel of the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ will introduce the aims of the Centre and how in collaboration with the BonaRes projects soil sciences will be improved.
During the afternoon session, the main ideas of the BonaRes Centre and that of the ten research consortia will be presented – the scientific keynote will be given by Keith Bristow (CSIRO, Australia).
